My abstract paintings are a mix of undulating organic shapes, contradicted by converging lines and ridged negative space. They are purely non-objective surreal expressions guided by music and mood. Natural surfaces such as shells, pearls, rocks etc. are my color and textural inspiration. Experimenting with materials, texture, shape, and surface contradictions challenges me to look past representation and focus on the art of painting. I start first by introducing line and movement. I work intuitively by adding and subtracting the placement of lines, form, and negative space. I add multiple layers of color and value, responding to the development of the particular piece.
